And, the wait continues ...

Most of us must have chewed all our nails by now. Some must have received good news from other schools, while others (like me) who have applied to schools with rolling interview decision scheme (like Tuck) must be worn down by the patience they are required to show. Still some might have received dings from all their #1 schools [I feel for you ppl, totally do (almost been there and might remove this 'almost' in a few weeks)] and must be working on #2s.

Bah! I can't even talk to my friends straight. God bless them all, that they are still putting their faith in me and keeping me encouraged through this journey is a blessing in itself. While I would really not want get all too stressed at work, but there still tends to be lingering thought all the while, and it takes an effort to not login and check is the app status changed or check how long is gonna be until they release the result.

Having received a few, I know how bad a ding feels. But the torture of waiting can get quite a bit excruciating. On that note, I'd recommend the schools to adopt what HBS, Duke Fuqua and LBS have adopted. The policy to say goodbye to candidates mid-way, is a boon for sure. When you release the candidates early, they know in time what they have to do in the following round. They get enough time for 'feel sorry for yourself' period and can gather themselves together to prepare early for other options.

Let me know what you all think about this. It's time for dinner! See you all around. :)

P.S. - I specially love the SISS feature of Duke Fuqua - another step to ease applicants' worries.

Countdown to shortlist decision - Fuqua R1 applicants

For those who are waiting for their R1 shortlist results for Fuqua School of Business (Duke University), I made this handy widget. The basis of countdown deadline time are:

  • Date - taken from Fuqua's website
  • Time - taken from Class of 2016 thread for Fuqua applicant on GMATClub.com forums [1400 hrs EST (GMT - 0500 hrs)]

All the best to all applicants. I know how it feels during the anticipatory period. Trust me, you're not alone. :)

No candies... :(

The ghosts of halloween have not been kind to me this year. They brought no English candies that I requested from them. Yes. It's over. My stint with application submission to European schools is over. May be I shouldn't have made this half hearted attempt for LBS, but I guess I am not in habit of learning without failure.

Lesson learnt - do not attempt to overwhelm yourself with burden of applications to schools where you don't see yourself as flourishing. That applies to the scenario where you might have definite professional reasons to attend a school, but still the school culture is not up to your taste. (I had pretty strong reasons to attend LBS, but could never find their culture as tasteful as Tuck, Duke or Kellogg.)

Regardless of whatever the lesson is learnt, it stings to be rejected (all the more reason to not apply to schools you don't feel the connect with).

My best wishes to all the candidates who made in to the interview shortlist. I hope you have a great interviewing experience. No matter what one says, LBS IS a great school.
